Brake Press Operator

Job description

The Press Brake Operator is responsible for producing parts from various materials using a press brake. The Operator receives blueprints or plans for finished products, makes adjustments to the machine areas to bend to ensure desired outcome of material. The incumbent will also ensure proper working order of the press brake, and make minor repairs when needed.

Job Duties

  • Set up and operate of Bystronic CNC Brake Presses
  • Interpret work orders and blueprints to ensure product created will be up to standards
  • Check plans for errors prior to prepping machine
  • Prepare templates and sketches, and determine work processes
  • Adjust the press brake to meet the stipulations in order to produce the required product as per the blueprints/plans
  • Adjust machine bending tools, etc. to ensure the product produced meets requirements of plans
  • Check finished product to ensure it meets the requirements
  • Inspect equipment prior to use for proper working order
  • Make minor repairs to equipment when needed
  • Take machine out of operation if it is damaged – ensure proper repair is made prior to using the press brake again
  • May construct components and parts to close tolerances that may have nonstandard or unusual shapes
  • Cleans, checks and lubricates machine to maintain proper operation
  • Ensure proper personal protective equipment is worn at all times
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with a Bystronic press brake would be considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in reading technical manuals and instructions
  • Physical ability to perform all duties assigned
  • Ability to work in a standing position for entire shift (normal shift 8-10 hours)
  • Good communication skills and judgment
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Self-motivated
  • Must be computer literate
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times

Work Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
